Rum drinks for a beach wedding

A beach wedding is an ideal option for a summer wedding. Choosing a delicious and refreshing drink is important in keeping your guests happy. Here are six tasteful rum drinks that you could use for a beach wedding.

Mojito

A classic among rum drinks is of course the Cuban Mojito, which is always a refreshing success because of the cooling mint; traditionally made with fresh limes, mint, raw sugar – or syrup –  white rum and soda. You could also play around with the color and flavor of your Mojito by giving it a blackberry, raspberry, pineapple or watermelon twist. Mojito is traditionally garnished with a sprig of mint.

Daquiri

The Daquiri is a fresh and extremely simple cocktail. The original ingredients for a Daquiri are rum, lime juice – or other citrus – and simple syrup. A banana or strawberry Daquiri also adds a delightful twist this elegant rum drink.

Cuba Libre (Rum and Coke)

This classic Cuban highball cocktail is made from rum – traditionally light rum – and

Coca-Cola, with the addition of fresh lime juice in some recipes. It’s garnished with a lime wedge and is a simple and delicious cocktail.

Piña colada

For a dreamy tropical drink choose this Puerta Rican cocktail – made from rum, coconut milk or cream, and pineapple. You could serve it in a coconut and garnish it with a Maraschino cherry or in a glass garnished with a pineapple wedge.

Dark ‘N’ Stormy (perhaps rename it with a brighter alternative)

Dark ‘N’ stormy is another highball rum cocktail. It consists of dark rum and ginger beer, is served over ice, and is garnished  with a lime wedge. There are a couple of twists one could take with this cocktail; for example, you could try adding bitters, fruit juice or infusions.

Coco loco (crazy coconut)

Coco loco is a Colombian cocktail traditionally made from rum, tequila, vodka, coconut cream, coconut water, lime juice and ice cubes. It can be garnished with a Maraschino cherry, a pineapple or lime wedge, or mint.

Keep your summer rum drinks simple but delicious, and make them the cherry on top of your magical beach wedding. Use good quality alcohol, garnish your rum drinks with seasonal fruits to cut costs and be kinder to the environment by using an alternative to plastic straws.
